Barely standing, in fright,
Packing heat, waiting,
for your strike.
 
Groaning, weeping,
We fought obstacles,
Hope and expectations -
Two edged sword.
 
Staring back, is fear.
Subjecting us to its world
of hardship.
 
Gasping for breath,
Our backs at the ropes.
Beaten, down,
Gloves hanging low
 
By a long shot,
Still, we trudge on in battle.
Low in spirit,
Consumed by fear,
This sword of Damocles hangs.
 
Fighting Fear,
In a game of daggers drawn.
Fighting Fear,
Bringing knife to a gunfight.
