TEARS AND TOIL

Man is born into sin,
A mortal curse from birth.
When his mother was delivered of him,
Tears of joy welled,
Family and friends welcomed,
The coming of an entity
Whose identity will soon be characterised
With tears and toil.

Shortly, the dependent being
Got detached from his first source,
Evolved into an independent soul
Ready for the real life that beckons.
He looked ahead, there lies his goal
The purpose of his existence.
He reaches and struggles for it
With all tears and toil.

"If Heaven is sweet, why do I descend to Earth?"
He asks.
"If my future is bright, why do I need the tunnel to get there?"
He ponders.
What is the essence of living,
If he has to toil to make a living?
Of what value is his prosperity,
If it all turns out to be vanity?

In toil, man tills the soil
To make food.
In tears, he tries all he can
To fulfill destiny.
His wisdom can't prevent the tears
Neither can his goal be achieved without toil.
What then is the essence of life
If it has to be lived in tears and toil?
