Playing sickly mind games for the thrill of it
A means to achieving shallow goals

Not to fulfill the voids left
By the many that promised to stay but were mere passers-by
Assumptions that another soul shall provide
Making her whole

She loves
Not as requirement
A sign of achievement in this damming world
Unachievable standards and harsh critics
Telling her that her value can only be acknowledged with a significant other by her side.
Yet condemned

She loves
Simply because the emotions of valuing someone else overwhelm her
For she gives her all
Her significant other's happiness her own, failures tackled as a team
Readying herself to fight all the troubles he faces
Shielding him from the monsters that lark
For her heart simply realises that acceptance is all she could do
Acceptance is all that brings her peace.
