I will never be able to wake you up when your late for school again.

I will never be able to take you shopping for that perfect outfit again.

I will never be able to tend to your cuts and scrapes again.

I will never be able to tickle you just to hear your laughter again.

I will never be able to hold you and embrace you when your heart needs to mend.

I will never be able to put your head to my chest to keep you from seeing that scary movie again.

I will never get to see that moment of joy when I hand you the car keys.

I will never be able to give you that fatherly advice again.

I will never be able to see you in that beautiful prom dress, waiting eagerly for your prom date to come in and gasp at your beauty.

I will never be able to see you on your graduation day, giving that graduation speech to all your peers.

I will never be able to see that look on your face when you get that acceptance letter to the college of your dreams.

I will never get to walk you down the isle to give you away to the man who stole your heart when I wasn't looking.

I will never get to hold any of my grandbabies in my arms.

I'll never get to hear those silly little names that you called me. Padre, Fodder, or old man.

I will never get to do any of these things all because the universe took you from me.

I thumped and I pumped and I tried to breathe that fire back into your eyes, but the universe said no to me.

Now all that is left in that aftermath is me.

A broken father crying and screaming begging on his knees.
