If I Could Start Again
“Another chance at life?”
I ask, catching my breath.
“Another beginning, another story,
And another chance with faith?
A new birthday, a new life.
A very different way to exist?
With no memories of my last existence,
Just a few glimpses, foggy with mist?
Starting again, with a different goal?
On a different path,
With different beliefs, yet with the same soul?
I could have one more chance,
Another lifetime to attempt.
Foward my dreams, not giving the past a glance.
God, do you make me tempt!
If I could start again, I’d make the decisions I couldn’t have.
The horrors I couldn’t have faced.
Being my own spirit, yet subtly changing who I am,
And help those I was too scared to do so, whom I will now embrace.
Start a wholely disparate journey,
Wiping my old moments.
Because then, I must prove myself worthy.
I am unique, meaningful, and prudent.”
