Winter White Rainbow Light
Polar vortex
cloudless sky
Air
crisp n dry

Northern breeze
three degrees
Giving this
winter ways walk
a yeoman's try

Upon descent
into prairie lane
I stop in awe
of God’s gifted
winter white
rainbow light

Near the river
Canada geese
hunker down
Sound a sleep
on iceland sheets

Water channeling
through the ice
vapor mist rising
vapor mist blowing
counter current
river flowing

Refreshing and renewing
from this wayward walk
henceforth sharing
winter white
rainbow light

I have never seen a clear sky winter rainbow before, but this one seen yesterday had a faint prism encapsulating the bright winter white sunlight.
I hope by writing about it, you get a sense of it’s beauty. I just wish I could have captured all the prism colors with my camera.

Following a bit of internet searching, I guess the optical image in the photo has the name Sundog “Sundogs are atmospheric optical phenomena characterized by two bright spots on either side of the sun. They are most commonly observed in polar regions and at high altitudes, where ice crystals are prevalent in the atmosphere. The bright spots are often circular and display an array of colors, similar to a rainbow. The most prominent colors are red and orange, which are closer to the sun, while the outer edges showcase hues of green, blue, and violet.” from ‘whatistheweathertomorrow’.
