Caged
I've built a cage in my mind,
Bars upon bars, with wire twisted tight,
I kept them high with fears and doubts,
Locked myself up in this misery.

This comfort zone is my cozy cell,
My dreams found refuge and stayed.
But sometimes I feel a little voice,
Like my grandmama's whispers,
Telling me to break the chains.

Adjust your vision to the darkness,
But never get used to it; she told me
"True strength is within you, sweetheart,
And this cage is just an illusion,"she insisted
Made by your mind to confine you,
But you can break it,
if you believe in yourself.
