What was sought

I sought the infinite in the finite,
I sought eternity in the flesh,
I sought love amidst the frail,
and tried to heal pain with hate.
My kindness veiled a dark demeanor,
my joy concealed an abhorrent void,
it shadowed a darkness,
one I hoped to cure with Love.
My understanding left me on silent shores,
my thirst for knowledge led me astray,
only then did I comprehend the idiocy in wisdom.
Cries for help fell upon deaf ears,
and still they continue to fall.
The light dazzled us,
but the sun's rays never reached us.

There is no eternity in the flesh,
yet,
my lingering thirst for knowledge endures,
clinging to Love,
realizing what I sought was the Lord indeed.
