Chance To Dance
This is a poem but it's kind of a story too. I think perhaps adolescent junior high boys have experienced this.
I should’ve asked you to dance with me
Like you did in my fantasy.
I didn’t because I’m too shy.
There'll never be a you and I
Because I never took that chance.
I never asked you to dance.
I never chanced to say hello
You gave me a look but I turned to go.
I lost my nerve and ran the other way,
So love didn't happen that day.
I’m so damned shy so I never took the chance.
Now I regret not asking you to dance.
