Unrequited love
Unrequited love
My heart wrote me a letter,
Relayed in bruised words and wounded lines.
Encouraged me to forget you,
Because it has been beaten for you too long.
The message of the weeping letters,
Of how they were penned,
And how each stroke follows the rhythm of my agony and grief.
The letter only a shattered soul can see
I admire you,
A love I cannot acquire yet.
I long for the day we'll be together,
But that might take forever.
I wish I could summon the courage,
To speak what's on my mind.
But fear has taken a greater part of me.
I spent years daydreaming,
Of us being together.
I live in denial,
Because I made myself believe,
That my love is reciprocated.
For now, I'll watch you from afar.
I know that one day you'll know my love.
