A Phoenix From The Ashes
Even at one of my lowest lows,
I loved you with every atom of my being,
My body had broken, but never the spirit,
The sharpened and keen senses, always foreseeing.

A long and weary road, no doubt it was,
Slowly trudging my way, a step at a time,
Gloomy forebodings, festering the mind,
Overworked soul, sullied with soot and grime.

A time when one should be cared for,
Shouldering everything alone,
Celebrating the happiness of others,
While being neglected and forlorn.

Was even told to expect no help,
Not a word of concern or caution,
Beware my dear of such false pretenders,
Protect yourself and vehemently shun.

An arduous journey it has been,
Not a moment of which I'd take away,
Who did what and who said what,
Forever in my heart it'll stay.

Despite it all, the only constant,
Was my love for you, my dear,
You come first, always and forever,
When I'm with you, you have nothing to fear.

You'll find me in your corner, by your side,
Even after when I am gone,
At every step that you take and decide,
My love for you will linger on.

Not so easily will I be diminished,
Keeping open all the gashes,
As out of it all, has finally risen,
A phoenix from the ashes!
