The Interview
Today I walked into my house
Smoothed down my hair, rechecked my blouse
The babysitter greeted me
I opened my purse to pay the fee
How did it go, the young girl said
I didn't answer, smiled instead
Cash in my hand, I paid her fee
She accepted my silence, she let me be
I rushed upstairs to see my son
A two year old, my only one
Upon his bed, he's sound asleep
My heart so sore, I start to weep
I step into the shower stall
And underneath the waterfall
The job was mine, so was the sin
I wash the interview off my skin
