Luke
I met God through his embrace.
Its a hard thing to lay next to him every night Without being welcomed back
Into those arms.
My head on his chest.
One of his hands stroking my hair,
His arm wrapped around me
His other hand resting
Safely
On my lower back.

The Holy Ghost hovering,
Palpable.
Right above us,
In the very same room!
As undeniable as the scent of his skin
Where my cheek rests.

Every fibre of my being
Content.
Saturated in acceptance
In security
In a love so pure it's nescient
Familiar once, in a dream
Fleeting
Slipped away
Exchanged for the fog of consciousness

Abruptly awoken to reality
My angel is only human
He is flawed,
Perhaps broken.
As lost as me at any rate
His map in a language
Foreign yet familiar
His heart
As wounded as mine
His heart
Still entangled with another
The respite of our embrace
Fleeting
Slipped away

His peace only found in the presence of God
The same God he introduced me to
The same God that fled from me
At the sight of his rejection

The word Faith never ringing truer
Or feeling further away.

So I pray.
