Bilimbi tree
#WritcoPoemPrompt120

As I stand beneath the shady branches
and listen to the whispering tales and let the leaves fall on me ,
as I sniff the gentle fruit essence and let her energy flow through my veins,
how peaceful one feels to see the branches rock to and fro ?
how many birds ...golden oriole , jackdaws, pigeons , mynahs , owls all perched quietly,
burying their sorrows in the deep dark hollows of the branches.

How i wish I could post my worries in one of those .
until she lets me know that worries can be shed like leaves as she does every morning .
She holds them out and burns them in the bright golden sunshine and vapours it off .

My bilimbli tree ,I love thee !!
And your red and white blossoms clumped to refuge an army of red ants that never let the woodpecker pick on your soft green bark.

The wind carried words through the sky that blew thee,
Lying on a velvet swing,
Swinging under a tree,
Whilst waiting for the King, under my sweet bilimbi tree
A green genie dwells in those higher boughs
He's belled its leaves in pepermint green
And the citrus juices stashed in bottle necked fruit
Ten in a cluster
They whelve the red ants who trade the fruit.
They twattle with the wind that plays a tune
Into their hollows.

What fun to climb upon this virgin tree
Like a young maiden
Waiting to befriend my mind's lonely nook.
Red and ivory , adorning her temples
Her chiselled trunks bear a danceuse poise
She springs up as the rains sizzle
On the ground
I've set my eyes on her floral red and pinks
My curtains steal her colours
When the leaves slap on them
How they both reach out in sheer ecstasy.

The kingfisher's her bossom mate
How he claims her hand
On a wintry noon
When the skies were embedded like
Lapis Lazuli.
Their topaz nights had melted like buttered scones
And how the kingfisher stole her jaded hues
To camaflouge from the kestrel hovering high.

My sweet Bilimbi tree stands nearby the deep well
That has fresh springs to drink
And nourish the river snappers who whistle and wink
On rainy days like these.
