Laughter
In the darkest hours of life
when the hurricanes swing
me like a thread in the air
I shall not be moved
Though I might be afflicted
by sickness, poverty and shame
The anchor will hold
Even if I lose my gold
and sleep in the naked cold
My laughter shall not be snatched
I'm a son of fire
The Human Lion, the Iroko
Born not to be terrified by anything
that walks the earth and the heavens
I shall laugh in the day
and in the night
The boy who loved to paint
is still painting but painting words
The Lord is my laughter
A writer will be born in my daughter
Giggling feet, cackling thoughts
An ocean of pleasure
Happy am I, laughing nature
Bend to His will,
Whatever He touches is made whole.
