Another year ends, yet ignorance stands still,
What is it? Why do you fail to see you are ill?

"Ill? Am I really?" how innocently you ask,
Yes, you are. Let me explain and remove your mask.

Desire upon desire, upon more desires, that illness don't you see?
It never ends, never, then why not break free?

If you 'eat, speak, think and do' all that you crave,
Don't you then realize, you have become the ego's slave?

Wealth, Power, Pleasure, Beauty and Fame,
To think they are the purpose of life, is simply lame.

Leave that be! Strive now! A new year awaits!
Chain the ego! Kill the desires! Follow what your 'spirit' dictates!

It isn't easy – to fight, fall and rise up without fear,
It's a strange world, fire emanates darkness here.

Do not despair! Pray, work hard, and have faith in God,
Time will reveal, the glorious destiny planned by the Lord.
