The Last Goodbye
Just like an over ripened apple
I fall to the ground below
we were like feathers on the breeze
floating around with no place to go.
Our love was anything but ordinary
but at least we gave it a try
It nearly turned into something special
but we just watched it burn and die.
I tried not to let my emotions show
that was easier said than done
I wish I could have turned back time
to the point when our relationship begun.
Yes our relationship wasn't perfect
but I thought it was going to last forever
then you gave me those dreaded words
"We're Never Getting Back Together"
I knew then it was time for a change
I tried to change that love around
but we both knew it was time to let it go
and bury that relationship in the ground.
It broke my heart to leave you
my tears fell like falling autumn rain
even though I may roam thousand miles
I'll never find love like yours again.
I'll never forget your beautiful eyes
or your loving warm embrace
but as hard as I might find it
I must erase the memory of your face
