I Am a Son

I am a son, not by my own,
But by the grace of Him who’s known
As Light of lights, the chosen One,
The Father's perfect, holy Son.

In shadows deep where sin had reigned,
I wandered lost, my soul restrained.
Yet from the heavens, mercy called—
A Savior came, and chains dissolved.

The Son who bore the weight of scorn,
Wore thorns for me, my guilt adorned....
