Grandfather Clock

I am the clock in the hall, the one that oversees all. Tall and old, big and bold I tick, tick, tick not missing a beat, hour by hour and then repeat. I count down every second and observe the happenings of my house. From the growth of the humans to that habits of a mouse. My favorite time in the evening is when the family gathers on the couch. They play games and there lives they talk about. Sit and laugh and talk it out. They ask questions like what is life really about and no one knows. I find that's the way it's meant to be, if humans knew the answer they would all live the same. is life really interesting that way? My gears spin and turn, as the sun rises and burns bright into the sky. At the 12 hour I sing a song, the only chances I get all day long. The littlest child, eyes full of wonder sits before me and waits to hear my tune. Big and bold, Vibrations in your heart and in your soul. The child smiles and watches me go. It's over as soon as it begins and she walks away grinning. I can't wait to do it again all from the beginning. How funny is that a clock who can't wait, but I do ticking away, second by second every day. All the things I see in 24 hours, I observe as time passes and it does wether you realize it or not. Time will continue when many things will not, it doesn't stop, and sometimes it's a lonely job. It's important what I do even if I wish some days I was something new..... That's why I enjoy watching the flowers bud is spring, look at them through the windows a beautiful pink. how lucky am I to see a blue bird or a dove flying above through the glass I see it all. Even the mouse in the wall, new life comes as she is expecting a little one. I will be here counting down the days untill my gears stop turning. one day.... one day I will see the oldest son Graduate. A smart lad that one, he can change the world if he applies him self.
