The Modified Me
A shy girl, soft and pure,
Unaware of the forest or the shore.
Just as clean as a mirror’s reflection,
She gave her heart without objection.
She held each heart in cupped hands,
To protect, to cherish—love withstands.
Yet they treated her like a doormat,
Using her as they pleased, then cast her flat.
The cracks in her grew too deep,
Until her soul could no longer keep.
She broke, she fell—a painful death,
Like a star lost of its breath.
