मुझमे गहराई समुद्र जितनी थी,
उसको प्यास एक बूँद भर भी ना थी।
मेरे ख्यालों में बातें इतनी थी,
उसको उन बातों की चाहत रत्ती भर भी ना थी।
मैं खोने को तैयार था उसमें,
मेरी जगह उसमें एक कोने की भी ना थी।
मैं आवारा सा वो समझदार बहुत थी,
खाली पन्नों में उसके अनछुए एहसास की बातें बहुत थी।
वो बेखबर था, या नज़रअंदाज़ मैं बहुत था,
मैं उसकी बातों के किसी भी किस्से में नहीं था।
वक्त थोड़ा सा भी ना था उसके पास मुझे देने को,
और मेरी तो पूरी उम्र नाम उसी के थी।

I was as deep as the ocean,
Amd he didn't have even a drop of thirst.
There were so many things in my mind,
And he didn't have even an iota of desire for those things.
I was ready to lost myself in him,
But there was not even a corner for me in him.
I was a wanderer and he was very intelligent,
There were many words of his untouched feelings in my empty pages.
He was oblivious, or I was too ignorant,
I wasn't in any of his stories.
He didn't have even a little time to give me,
And my whole life was named after him.
