Oil & Water
I've tried
So have you
I've begged
So have you
I've prayed
So have you
Alas, as this chapter ends
It's start seems vague
I do remember
We were warned, you and I
To let our love be watered by rain
Instead, we kept it hidden
Our views kept it in a box
I, with my judgemental fears
You, with your susceptible ears
Let it dry up
Till oil and water
Seemed a better combination than we
Poison, now too kind
A word to describe us
Though I accept
We could never be mixed
I beg you, as we are adrift
Consider this poem my parting gift.
