There's a monster inside me,
A creature that lurks deep within,
It growls and it snarls, it hisses and spits,
A beast that I try to keep locked in.

It claws at my heart, it bites at my soul,
A constant reminder that it's in control,
It whispers dark thoughts, it fuels my fears,
A monster that brings me to tears.

When anger ignites, it takes the wheel,
The monster awakens, and my rage reveals,
It consumes me whole, like a raging fire,
Leaving destruction, my heart's greatest desire.

But still I try to keep it at bay,
To lock it away, to throw it away,
But it's a part of me, a part of my mind,
A monster that's always left behind.
