Unrequited Love
In the game of hearts, I've played my part,
A hopeful player from the very start.
Yet every hand I've dealt with care,
Turns to dust in the cold, harsh air.

Love, they say, is a tender flame,
But for me, it's just a losing game.
Each attempt to ignite that spark,
Leaves me wandering alone in the dark.

A castle built on clouds of dreams,
Crumbles down in silent screams.
For every time I've dared to feel,
Love's cruel hand makes sure I kneel.

So I fold my cards and bow my head,
In love's vast field, I tread with dread.
For though I long to hold it near,
Love, it seems, just won't adhere.

And so I whisper to the night,
Love ain't for me, it's just not right.
I'll guard my heart, keep it tucked away,
For love, it seems, leads me astray.
