Grief is not mild mannered
He doesn't ask please
Or say thank you
He is very unkind
Not giving one's mind
Time to think it over
Before hitting someone
Like a wrecking ball
Or drifting in like the fog
Slipping under
Door and window cracks
How is it that
Such an unlikable fellow
Acts like he's everyone's friend
Not one of us
Is untouchable
He'll get you
Give him time
As much as we don't like him
You know what?
We need him to survive
To blossom, grow, and learn
Even healing occurs
Because we've grieved
And painful grief
Comes at the price of great love
