You wanted me to deny the whole truth
though I struggle with traumas of my youth
the constant flashbacks I face everyday
yet the anger I have just won't ever go away.
You used to beat me when I shed a few tears
forcing me to deny the truth for many years
laughing in my face when I was in pain
I would look at you with so much disdain.
Feeling so good, I'm stronger from within
though I would do anything just to finally win
the smile on your face that turned to rage
it's a brand new day & I just need to engage.
I denied the truth because I wasn't okay
you tortured me almost each and everyday
the world that I saw that wasn't so sweet
I told you the truth and I finally feel complete.
