Shin Shady Saga (verses from my 20 y/o self)
Not all of us are pleased, but this world ain't big enough to plead
But fuck it, gotta speak my piece if there's no peace to be reached
What's justice if we're simply watching from the bleachers
Seeing cowards as the prophets at their weakest?
Picture this: a humble business not thriving as they should
Then comes a limit of distance, the product of disruption
As it's beginning to witness light, the tunnel spanned at its darkest
Until it went down in flames, that was the last nail in its coffin
This is all the reason why I'm blind to colour
It's black and white, but I'm no pantomime for another

I'ma tabloid murderer, a paranoia burner
Catch ya lurking in the shadows, get stabbed from the throat up
Now that's a headline I wanna read tonight:
Three Thought Cops knifed, treading with caution is advised
But I digress, I ain't gonna sit here and agree
While you wave your forged badges, barking orders for a pedigree
Insisting I'm a threat to the narrative's sheep
I'm just pending on my sentence, I'll be dying with integrity

A life is precious, it's something to value
To count your blessings, but here is the sad truth:
While I refuse to be the slight-bit convinced
There are kids out there who wind up swindled
He meant well; but to him, school was a prison
Never fitted in with cliques, never cared to listen
He started skipping lessons, and then quits attending
He thought, ‘I'm free now, no more hours in detention’
But where will he make a profit? He can't work a job yet
Then he knew of someone who is from the projects
Got into peddling weed and some crack rocks and
Eventually, he gained respect, he felt like he was belonging
He knew he'd obtain rivals approachin' every window
Totin' switchblades and pistols, sayin', “You finna get smoked”
So, if you gotta boast about ridin' in the six-fo',
Then you oughta know how to keep yourself low
The ghetto ain't no Sacrament of Penance
Sell your soul once, it's in your sinners' possession
'Til the day you're in death row after your confession
You were destined to fail ever since your inception
A glock won't save you; you've double-crossed your own block
They've forgotten you, still not caught while you rot
With the convicts who are deemed more sinister
Wearing all orange and are capable to finish ya
