LONG LIFE AFTER DEATH

I was told you once lived and now gone
Long ago when not I yet was born
You were a man visible among all race
And your impact still healthy to these days

Short were your days yet eternal your reputation survive
A reputation that live longer than your life
The fish in the sea and the birds on the tree
Have endorsed how you set the captives free.

In your days you abhorred ill gotten and bloody fame
And by so left for us the mother treasure, good name
Your departure left the world in an indelible sorrow
A man like you never will the world get or even borrow

Your departure was a Nature's call and you obeyed
Even though the world insisted you stayed
Your last words to the world was well defined
"There, we all shall go but what names are we living behind"?
