Grave! The Companion of Death
Oh grave!
That which swallows both the weakling and the brave,
And covers forever, the soul of a man,
Never again to be conceived of a woman.
Thou oh grave! thou who's never satisfied,
Neither's ever pleased or fed,
That which claims both olds and youngs,
And leaves not their youngs.
That which abruptly brings an end_
To the reigns of Kings
And lays desolate the abode of princes
Oh! grave! thou with no friend.
Thou bossom companion of death,
The "stinging hornet" of whom man's soul fret,
Thou oh grave! whom's bosom all men must lay,
A fate of which no man pray.
