The Rime of a Ghastly Seafarer

1

Of Eternal damnation, lies the tale of a mortal man,
Whose soul - A ship.
Adrift in storm tossed waters,
Lost to the sea’s endless embrace.

As steeped in nautical legend, myths paint him as a tragic figure,
A name that rippled through the currents,
A symbol of both dread and mystery.

He roamed the seas with a heart as wild as the waves,
The captain of the Ghostly ship,
Cursed to sail through the haunted fog of the endless night.

In the earlier days, He was but a mortal man,
A sailor who fell in love with the sea,
Only to betray or be betrayed by it.

He met her there, in the womb of the ocean’s roar,
Calypso - The goddess of tempests.

She was chaos made flesh, the rhythm of every tide,
And he, a wanderer, a dreamer,
Who longed to harness the boundless sea to hold in her arms what no man could tame.

Unpredictable, She - The sea herself,
One moment ruled-gentle and nurturing,
Fierce and destructive the next.

By love’s fierce tide, his heart unwavering,
The mortal Davy Jones became immortal,
Bound to life yet ageless.

Some believe he was a cruel pirate,
Condemned by the gods, for his wicked deeds.
But instead he was a seafarer,
Exchanging life over love as a bargain with the sea.

To ferry the souls to the afterlife, he agreed,
Of those who died at sea, suffering pain.
With commanding of The Flying Dutchman,
In exchange, he would gain.

A ship that could sail to the farthest reaches of the world,
A ship that can defy even death itself.

Calypso, drawn to his bold act, did return the love,
And the promise sealed beneath the stars,
With the same tempestuous fervor.
