If only wishes can come true,
I have one or two or maybe a few,
And they're all about you,

I wish you had said goodbye,
Or farewell,
See you another night.
Instead you left me on the steps to cry,
Wondering when did it all fall to pieces.

You said you found the Love of Your Life,
Sweet apple of your eye,
You kiss her lips before you go to bed each night.

Now my days are filled with songs of dark paradises,
And tequila of sunrises,
Only thing that's missing are the blues,
But those remind me too much of you.

My nightmares are of lilac summers and eating corndogs on the grass,
Stepping on toes through the waltz,
As we believed we danced and pranced.

Your smile, dazzling like the crystal chandelier above,
As with each play of the records ,
I gave you my love.

I would welcome the comfort of monsters and darkness rather than those dreams,
I had open my eyes too late, By then everything had burst through the seams.

My wine glass is tipped over on the floor,
The red streams on the white carpet like blood,
Reminding me of our romance better labelled as gore.

For you bled me dry on the battle field,
Your sword pierced through my heart,
I'd die 10, 000 deaths
Just never to meet you from the start.

But as the old saying goes,
All is fair in love and war,
With a kiss of death and poison on my ink I bid you farewell.

Now I listen to blues,
Drink a glass of wine or two.
I dream of lilac summers and stepping on toes during the waltz...
But for once baby these dreams aren't about you.
