For my children I 'm trying to be a good father figure
Even though the pieces of my life I'm still trying to configure

I'm trying to teach you some practical life lessons
All these learning moments are just teaching sessions

See all I want is for my children to think for themselves
So they won't allow their thoughts to be put on dusty shelves

I want my children to be leaders and not just follow the crowd
Be their own person who leaves a trail from the path that they've plowed
