I am average,
Being on top of lists is not my thing
I exist albeit without the bling
that surrounds talented artists with peculiar knacks
Oozing excellence through all crevices and cracks.

I am average at making interesting conversations,
Indulge me not into participation
For I speak in metaphors and talk of similes
My thoughts are all too grey and grimly.

I am average,
Be it my grades at school
Or a swimming session by the pool
I am the forgotten runner-up
The decent, okay screw-up
I am friends with most, best friends with none
What do I know about being 'The One'!

I am good but not good enough
To be the object of someone's love
I don't feature on people's lists
My name isn't tattooed on any wrists
Because I am average.
