{The race was soon to begin, it had attracted quite the crowd.
Forest critters everywhere, as anxious as they were loud.}

Dr. Porcupine: "Listen you two, you'll be under Owl's eyes. While you're running on the trail, he'll be watching from the skys."

Hare: "I hope he can keep up with these lightning rabbit feet, he can see how I don't falter, and will see I do not cheat."

Tortoise: "Silly Mr. Hare, why must you always be obtuse. If you can't remain humble, then I'll have to make you lose."

Hare: "Please, don't make me laugh!" he said, har-haring on his back. "I admire you so much, I'll even give you plenty slack."

Dr. Porcupine: " Remember you are friends, so please don't act like foe.
Let nothing else be said, on your mark, get-set, and... GO!

{The tortoise ran as fast as his nature would allow,
