Colours of our hearts
#WritcoPoemPrompt33
Nine colours for nine auspicious days,
Celebrating the destruction of evil,
And the beginning of a new life.
Red, the bloods of our loved pacified
Vengance flees like a fiend
Hands stretched to another in pure love
Blue, peace like still waters
Our breaths no longer in puffs
Anguish a forgotten song
Green, life given a chance to bloom
Twirls of algae around our feet
Feels like home again
Orange, stirrings of celebration fused
With painted faces
Jollof rice very plenty
Yellow! Sun! Sun! Sun!
We savour the goodness of flowery scents as
New memories are engraved on hearts
Our skin, a Brown buttery earth
The tapestry of our brotherhood
Our nakedness covered, pride restored
Royal purples worn by all,
The separated becomes a part of the whole,
Humanity thrives.
White,thoughts as plain as day
Expressions accepted without bias
Faces holding no scrunch
Black smoke rises
Skies!
The gods are back,
The beats of their drum wafts through our bodies
Great times are here.
