Lately, I've had thoughts of people who have gone away,
Memories of my entire life swirling around in my hair now turned grey,
Thoughts about each person and how their presence changed my life today.
The one who made an impact had a heart of gold wrapped inside a rugged hide,
Who's life was hard with tragedy and despair,
Her actions and powerful words held truths about life,
I think about it from day to day and her words to my own life compare.
She had to become a fierce protector I know this from time overnight I spent at her home,
Memories of her father's shotgun
she would carry at night when someone knocked at her door,
And her voice never afraid as she shout , "who's there, speak or I will shoot", and admiration once they were in view of how she offered up s place to rest and a plate of food.
Her kindness and great morals showed like a fire burning bright on a cold winter night with snow,
Love tempered with cold steel gave way to a heart that welcomed all . And my favorite thing is her sayings, one always...
