Years Wander Lost
Every year that I live longer,
I've something new to bear,
Wether it be a wish left unfulfilled,
Or a new name I've yet to bear
But this year was the worst of all,
I learned that life's not fair
Because when you're the one who lost your mum,
At the tender age of 14,
Was your childhood done,
Cause you can't afford to fall,
For your brother and your self,
For your father and all that is left,
Left behind in death
I know my woes are nothing to compare,
So why should I think it's hard,
When you're the one who's left alone,
I only wish that I had tears to spare,
For the sake of all that's never fair,
In honour of death,
And the night that follows,
Until you've hung enough stars in your sky,
To bring back the light,
So fight for all you are,
To fill your night with stars,
But that may be years,
But while you wait,
I'll still be here,
By your side,
Beneath that ever-turning sky,
And through all this time,
You'll be here,
In my words,
And in my tears,
Until sun reigns once again
Over horizons,
Scarlet Gold,
Thus foretold,
By your own eyes,
Never lies,
Although I've nothing for which to atone,
Still I feel as though I failed you,
That somehow I wasn't there for you,
How can you forgive me,
When there was nothing that I did,
That needs an ounce of your forgiving?
How do you go on living,
When the one who brought you into this world's gone,
How are you carrying on,
When I've lost myself by the wayside,
My horse gone lame,
My mind gone blank,
And still, you rode on to the lake,
I was caught in a ditch,
As I'd sewn my last stich,
How did your tears,
Not flood cobblestone streets,
When mine flooded gullies,
Muddied lanes neat,
Catching wagon wheels deep,
How did you go on,
When you'd lost your heart's song,
And all you remembered,
Was the chorus,
The beat,
Like the tinkling of trees,
And the shivering deep,
Like the wailing of willows,
And the weeping of stones,
When you've lost your compass,
And your map of the stars,
How do you survive,
How do you find home,
When you can't find your way,
And your friends wander,
Lost,
When you're all alone,
How do you find home?
I've something new to bear,
Wether it be a wish left unfulfilled,
Or a new name I've yet to bear
But this year was the worst of all,
