BATTERED AND SHATTERED

A past that is chasing me

Can’t seem to break free

From the ones who promised it all

And in the end left me to fall

First came the silence

Then came the violence

Mind, body beaten and battered

A heart left permanently shattered

My heart is all but gone

Don’t know how to go on

Please help me find the strength to get through

All the pain it takes to find a heart that is true
