THE GIRL NEXT DOOR
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR
I wooed a girl next door,
But she said no 'cos I was poor,
Yet, I loved her all the more,
She said she wanted to ask her friends first,
And she'd also asked her mom,
If they all thought me best,
But they said she shouldn't marry a poor youngster,
Born by a wretched and poor father.
After few years, she saw me in a ride,
She stood, waving by the road side,
She thought the car was mine, a black Cadillac,
Thouh she waved, I couldn't stop, 'cos of my boss, sitting right at my back.
That same night, I met missed calls on my phone,
When I called back, she said she just wanted to say 'Hi!'
To which I replied 'same also from this side',
Then she asked if I was at home and alone,
And I replied, 'yes am at home but am not alone'
And please who's on the line 'cos I lost my phone.
Another day I was riding in the same car,
The same model of car, the Cadillac,
It was actually my favorite car,
It has tinted glasses, and the colour was black.
She was again at the road side, so I decided to give her a ride,
Remembering the past, I swelled up with with pride,
Thank goodness, my boss wasn't around,
He hasn't been for a while, he travelled to England.
In the car, after a little chat, we decided on a date,
So lost in the moment, we didn't realize when we passed her house's gate,
After turning back and dropping her, she bade me good bye,
And I replied the same twice, I said 'good bye and good bye'
The next day, I dressed my best,
I put on my best pair of Jeans and a designer shirt,
I rode in another of my boss's cars to her house,
She was already at the gate, in a beautiful pair of pants and blouse.
Immediately, we rode to the nearby restaurant to eat barbeque,
Where she ate and drank all she could,
I couldn't eat, I was too restless summing up the bill,
Then we left the restaurant after settling the bill.
From the restaurant I zoomed off to the house in haste,
After spending that much, I couldn't wait,
And if you're thinking whose house? of course mine!
After spending that much, should I let her go freely? why should I?
On getting to the house, I lead her straight to the room,
But suddenly, there was 'car horning' at the gate,
Alas! my boss was back, I ran out and back to the bedroom,
I shouted 'please pack your things and leave in haste'.
'I thought the house was yours' she asked,
I replied, 'it's my boss's house and the cars too, none is mine',
Then she asked ' why didn't you tell me all this while?'
I shouted 'cos you never bothered and you never asked'
The rest of the story is not something I'd like to relate,
It took me three months to get my job back,
I remember the sad experience each time I drive pass her house's gate,
I've been calling her for months, she never pick call or called back.
Well I've learnt my lessons though in a hard way,
Never to do pass myself, seeking love on the highway,
Most girls of this age don't really care about love,
The moment your purse is dried, they'll put another man above.
