FREEDOM AT MIDNIGHT

when the clock strikes midnight,
no longer do we have to fend,
the cruel brutish Britain reign,
will all come to an end.

with trembling, shaking voice they chanted,
vande mataram as Thier eyes fills with tears,
'cause this marks an end ,
to the thrall of many years.

no more difference, no more discrimination between rich and poor,
no more empty stomach for the unfortunate,
and for the rich no more shine, no more illure.

no more bondary, no more fetters,
no more shackles in our hands,
only prosperity, liberty, security
and equality in the Indian sand.

songs of independence raised
among the crowds,
cheers and whistles and celebration
can be seen all around.

equality will no longer be a dream,
but something everyone will enjoy;
and that can be seen in faces,
radiating happiness and content and joy.

to see the flag of freedom
raise, they run,
at last, alas, after a 100 years,
we've won
