MISSING ‘E’
Life’s only valuable emotion is L.O.V.E,
But the e has been stripped away from your perv lips that care only about having fun,
With me….as you say it so unbothered of me or its meaning,
But desperate to use me to make a living.

I sit back down, trying to find the missing piece to your speech, so void but full of flattery.
But like a pastry, your words were flaky and half baked.
Not enough gluten to bind them, your words fell over me.
And despite my efforts at rebuilding, all it did was break.

The facts were clear:
I was beautiful, kind, and year by year I groomed like a grand affair.
But still something was missing that I could just grasp,
A cage inside me that your love couldn’t surpass.

There must be more to this baseless love.
It shouldn’t be like a transaction that falls short when I encounter a loss.
I shouldn’t have to wait for you to see my value before I am deserving.
This love being shown to me isn’t the same as the one my Jesus is serving.

The ‘e’ is emotion, but at that moment your feelings were definitely in motion.
But what is this emotion that binds?
What binds words like gluten binds pastries?
What creates the formation we all seek to function?

Word is to God like pastries is to gluten. It then struck me—
Both unseen but felt if you pay enough attention to really see.
The true emotion in love he showed by the coming of his son, what greater love can one muster?
Like the one portrayed on Easter.

Three days he endured, three words he abated,
For the glorious revealing of the one word forgotten and the one man underrated.
The emotion that breaks love’s cage is the one poured out on Easter.
Oh such perfect love like the one from our father.
