You always knew how to put a smile on our faces

This day marked my 8th birthday!!!
Other than that,
I was excited because I was also getting baptized!!
Spending the whole day getting prepared
I felt like nothing could go wrong
Thank you mum
for always being able to brighten up our day
Our love for you is eternal
Heading over to church
the only thing on my mind was smiles
I was just too excited and eager to see everyone
To be honest
I was just too happy
a bit too happy to think of anything else
Getting baptized was a huge blessing
Being able to see everyone there
Everyone, but you
It was just the best day ever
I felt like nothing could ever change that
Coming back home
I was eager to tell you all about it
Just showing you photos wasn't quite enough for me
but seeing how tired you looked,
just though I'd save it all for tomorrow
Now that's where I regret it all...
Waking up,
other than being happy
I was than full of fear and worry
Heard nothing but the sound of cries
I was a bit confused
What filled me with worry
was when they pointed to your room
Running over to your room
I was just confused and filled with many questions
Standing at your door,
my heart dropped🥺💔
My life just skipped a full amount of pages....😭😞
Seeing you laying unconscious
just washed all my happy thoughts away
I cried all the way up to the point that
the doctors came out and said "she's gone"😭😭😭
Huhhhh, I just thought back to my birthday,
I couldn't spent time with you
I could've been by your side the whole day
I could've spent the day thanking you for everything....
but I didn't 💔
I just wish I could control time
just this once

Eventhough that was years ago,
it feels like every birthday just has to bring another memory of heartbreak
