I missed the northern lights
of course I'd be the one to miss an event that'll happen once while I'm alive
be late to the universal party of colors in the sky
I'm always there, but always at the wrong time,
I'll never forgive myself for missing it that night
no one had thought to tell me,
It's almost like it was something to hide
now it feels like the color has been sucked out of me,
it feels like I live in black & white
now I get to see the world wonder at colors I'll never see in real time
I may never see color like it ever again in my life
all I can do now is forget it and leave it behind,
but I don't think I can ever get behind missing the northern lights.
