Apology
Dear friend, once near, now distant and stark,
Our bond once glowed, brighter than a lark.
Our friendship was a tune, clear and sweet,
But I let it dissolve, my mistake, so discreet.
I've tread on trails, where shadows embark,
In silence, I let our bond lose its spark.
My deeds, my words, they were not kind,
A lapse of mine, a foggy mind.
I let arrogance and pride blur my sight,
Oh, how I long for a chance to rewrite.
The chapters of our story that went awry,
To restore the melody to our lullaby.
I long for the times, filled with joy and cheer,
When we shared secrets, without any fear.
I miss the comfort, the warmth, your embrace,
I yearn for the glow, that was your grace.
Now, I stand, with remorse in my core,
For I was the one who closed the door.
I apologize, my friend, for the hurt I've imposed,
For the moments, I left you feeling exposed.
I wish to fix what has been cracked,
To utter the words that I lacked.
I apologize, my friend, with all my might,
I hope you can forgive me, for not being right.
Let's mend our friendship, stronger, anew,
With honesty, love, and trust that's true.
For you, my friend, are a gem so rare,
And I promise to show you, how much I care
(a poem for my friend whom I have hurt)
