Mary's Golden Lily
Where the elegant curls of nature ,
blends with the roses and dandelions ,
dwelled a dainty fairy
with shimmering blue eyes ;
luscious red hair cuddled her slender neck.
With her bewitching smile ,
sewed the wounded heart of her mother Mary.
Lured by the claws of gold and wine,
Jacob her beloved father vanished;
dragging them to the miserable shack.
Toiling relentlessly in the landlord's meadow,
Mary yearned to see her fairy fly.
'Santa's elves promised to tell me a secret
at tonight's fair, mama',
Lily squealed with joy.
Astounded at her little girl's fantasies,
Mary kissed her rosy cheeks.
Carols and dreamy stars adorned the lanes,
going bananas with the reindeer,
Lily enjoyed her favourite cherry treat.
Time flipped and shops locked.
Broken in the carousel, lies the cherry candy.
The gruesome night hugged Mary tight,
'My child , play no games with me,
I'm old and grey , come back to me'.
Eyes full of tears , sheriff and clergy
called out Lily's name .
Muffled voice and dried up tears ,
Mary was left all alone.
Cast away the evil ,
shelter my little one with your angels,
Mary collapsed in the steps of the Holy Church .
Awoken by the dewy sunrise,
cold and grim , she ran home.
Open ajar was the tiny door,
Laid in the worn out bedsheet , her precious Lily,
tucked cozily under Jacob's arms.
My love , Mary screamed with joy
"Pale and bloody laid papa in the old lane”,
Lily rambled.
Embarrassed, the man dropped
his guilty head on Mary's feet.
A tide of relief swept over Mary's heart,
for in this tiny shack,
she found her heaven.
In awe of God's miracle,
she smiled at her blooming flower,
glowing ever brightly , her Lily,
her golden Lily..
( Let's forgive our loved ones , realise “their presence” , is what makes us complete as-
To err is human and to forgive is divine. )
