River to the sea
Red rain falling from mourning skies,
They’ve fallen deaf to betrayal and the sound of their screams and cries;
Hands tainted red from their sin,
They’d rather kill the innocent than look within;
They can’t scrub this kind of evil off your skin,
Yet they sleep soundly, peacefully,
Broken bones and gin.
You wonder why I am depressed,
It’s because I know what the world could be,
and I won’t accept any less—
It may be dystopian,
and maybe I’m naive;
But I am loyal to love,
because I know it will set us all free.
From the river to the sea,
from the river to the sea,
Set them free,
not a day goes by,
not a day goes by,
Where I do not think
about their greed,
what they’ve stolen from them,
the people in need,
One life saved
is more worthy than gold
So we must be brave,
determined and bold;
Advocate for what we believe is right,
Setting fire to the darkness,
and love into the night.
