A salute to my past
I was never a little girl
Always told i was mature
Far above my years
But now I’m not so sure

I was bred and disciplined
Forced to be the perfect girl
Never stepped out of line
Always labelled the valuable pearl

I was forced to be
Mannered and pretty, the perfect daughter
Taught to walk straight, talk straight
Left to my teachers for slaughter

I was made the best
Launched above the other people
Made to make them feel inadequate
Make a shot to their ego, lethal

I was used to further careers
Make them better than they are
They would brag over my accomplishments
Said it would take my future far

I am sick of it
Tired of the lies and rules
I’m never allowed to talk or breathe
Without one of these fools

I am tired of this
Ready to leave this life behind
Ready to start a new future
And never press rewind

I am ready for this
About to go far beyond
Become the person i never was
Because that little girl is gone

So as a salute to my past
I'll repeat the finals words
“Keep your plans for yourself,
And not for little girls”
