On the last sleepless night,
Wriggling underneath the cotton sheets
In a monsoon night
Through its diaphanous flowers
Saw I a firefly
Flapping its wings and exuding its yellow light
Like an incandescent bulb
Burning like an incandescent love bite
Into my cornea seeking sleep
And left my mind in wonder
Seeping through tissues and valves
At the bioluminescence
That life can glow
And show light in dark
And lend peace in pain.
