not writing about the season
forgive me, it's not a message to you
I couldn't think of anything else to do
so here I leave a message for my eyes
something simple I felt I need to reprise
A small something I needed to remember since December
it's not my job to save anyone
it's not my right to help them fight their battles that attack their ankles
I can't be someone's life support before they support themselves
I can't be a pillar
if I'm not steady myself
I cannot fix what I didn't break
especially if I don't know what needs to be repaired
I can't be a lot of things
but being a friend is all I need to be
