FULL MOON

She whispered in my ear,
she asked me to be a dear,
she ran with cotton candy
in her hand, I chased her
on a wooden pier,

she whispered in my ear,
she wanted to hear
the ocean waves
by the waters edge,
her shoes in my hand,
her toes in the sand,

waves breaking silence,
knowing what I would pledge,
but that night I chose not
to balance on a ledge,

the little boy in me
never let go of his fears,
the insecurities, I wanted
to stay in the moment,
maybe a fool, one
intimidated by her beauty
under a full moon.
